What happens after a referral?

Step 1 – Referral

Schools complete the online referral form via the DSPL2 website.

Step 2 – Information Sharing

DSPL2 circulates referral information securely to attending professionals before the meeting so that everyone understands the young person's needs and comes prepared to contribute.

Step 3 – Multi-Agency Discussion

A 15-minute case discussion takes place during the Behaviour Surgery, focusing on:

• strengths and protective factors
• current concerns
• support already in place
• recommendations for next steps
• appropriate referrals and interventions

Step 4 – Agreed Actions

Clear actions and responsibilities are agreed during the meeting.

Step 5 – Recording Outcomes

The school records agreed actions and outcomes. DSPL2 maintains a record of attendance and the support discussed.
