HCC Visual Impairment Training

 

The following FREE, in person, Visual Impairment training courses are available to school staff in January 2026.

  • Effective Access for Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (12 January 2026)
  • Resource Modification and Access (28 January 2026)
  • Advanced Drawing (30 January 2026)

Effective Access:

  • Understand the impact of vision impairment upon learning and development.
  • Become equipped with strategies and techniques to support access for children and young people with vision impairment.
  • Understand the specific strategies and techniques which may benefit the children and young people with vision impairment you are working with.

Resource Modification and Access:

For Staff supporting children and young people with vision impairment who require modified print or Braille

Workshop objectives:

  • To have experience of Word programme skills to produce accessible documents using styles and formatting techniques
  • Opportunities to create accessible diagrams using Word and Excel
  • Identify and problem-solving particular concerns raised by workshop members

Advanced Drawing:

  • How to represent 2D tactile and large print diagrams using Microsoft Office applications.
  • To understand the concept of layering a diagram.
  • Opportunities to create accessible diagrams using Microsoft Applications.
  • Identify and problem-solving particular concerns raised by attendees.
