Who can attend the training?
The training is suitable for professionals working with children and young people, including Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), Deputy DSLs, SENCOs, school leaders, pastoral staff, Family Support Workers, Inclusion Leads, Behaviour Leads and other practitioners with safeguarding responsibilities.
Do I need any previous knowledge?
No. The training is suitable for both those who are new to the Brook Traffic Lights Framework and those wishing to refresh or develop their understanding.
How long is the training?
The course is delivered over 3.5 hours and includes interactive discussions, practical activities and opportunities to apply the framework using real-life scenarios.
Is the training interactive?
Yes. Delegates will take part in group discussions, scenario activities and case study exercises designed to build confidence in applying the framework within their own setting.
What will I learn?
By attending the training you will:
- Understand healthy sexual development in children and young people.
- Learn how to use the Brook Traffic Lights Framework confidently.
- Recognise green, amber and red sexual behaviours.
- Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
- Develop confidence in professional decision making.
- Explore practical case studies and scenarios.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. After completing the training and the Brook evaluation form, your attendance will be submitted to Brook. Your certificate of completion will then be emailed directly to you.
Is there any follow-up learning?
Yes. All delegates will receive access to Brook's free online refresher e-learning modules and a digital version of the Traffic Lights Framework to support continued learning.
What should I do before the training?
You will receive joining instructions before the session. We recommend completing the optional Brook e-learning module beforehand if you have time, although this is not essential.
Can my whole school or organisation receive this training?
If your school, trust or organisation would like to arrange a dedicated training session for a larger group of staff, please contact the DSPL2 team to discuss availability and options.
Is this training suitable for all phases?
Yes. The Brook Traffic Lights Framework can be applied across Early Years, Primary, Secondary and specialist settings. During the training we will discuss how behaviours should always be considered in the context of a child's age, developmental stage, additional needs and individual circumstances.
How many places are available?
Places are limited to ensure delegates can fully participate in discussions and activities.
What happens if I can no longer attend?
If you are unable to attend, please let the DSPL2 team know as soon as possible so that your place can be offered to another colleague.
How do I book?
Training dates and booking links will be available in the autumn term.
